Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning "spinning wheel of energy". These energy centers within our bodies receive and transmit energy, and each is situated at a major endocrine gland, and nerve bundle within the physical body, called a plexus. Each chakra is connected and associated with a different part of the body.

There are seven main chakras and three more recently recognised Chakras including the hands. It is usually believed that the three lower chakras correlate to basic primary needs - those of survival, procreation, and will - whereas the four higher chakras are concerned with our psychological makeup - defining love, communication, and knowledge, and deeper connection with the spiritual realms.

-5- Thymus / Upper chest (Turquoise)
-6- Throat (Blue)
-7- Ears (Aqua)

-1 – Base Chakra – With the colour of Red.
Located at the base of the spine, this Chakra is the grounding force and allows us to connect with earth. Dark red or deep red with bright silver tones will increase energy flow and help to return energy to the Crown Chakra. The use of the base Chakra as a circular flow or spinner will help to spin or speed up all the Chakra centres from the base Chakra through to the Crown Chakra.

-2 – Sacral Chakra – With the colour of Orange.
Located in the lower abdomen to the navel, this Chakra is the emotional connection centre. Creativity, passion, and purpose, the Sacral Chakra is where we learn from experiences and relationships and allow spirit to reach us through means of expression and personal choice.

-3- Solar Plexus Chakra – With the colour of Yellow.
Located just below the top of the rib cage, this Chakra is the intuitive Chakra. Like the saying goes ‘gut feeling’ our Solar Plexus is the area where the main focus is on intuition. Having a gut feeling about something can be due to your Chakra being uneven or spirit is trying to impressing you with a sign or warning. Most people have experienced this Chakra when it is not well balanced with heavy feelings in the stomach. When it is well balanced the energies are much more defined and work well as a way to ‘feel’ spirit’s impressions. This area also helps us with self esteem, personality traits and with the energy flow between one another when healing.

-4- Heart Chakra – With the colour of Green and Pink centre. Located in the centre of the chest, the heart is the main centre for healing. Love is the energy that assists with healing and spirit will touch us many times through the heart. Wounds to the heart can be healed and fears can be overcome with a clear heart Chakra. The heart is also where compassion comes from and a clear understanding of others with an unconditional love of any person in any situation. Opening the heart Chakra while working with spirit helps us to trust that spirit is with us for guidance and providing us with unconditional love.

-5- Thymus Chakra – With the colour of Turquoise.
Located in the upper chest this Chakra governs inner peace, compassion and connection with spirit or soul. Sometimes known as the etheric heart, the Thymus Chakra can help to balance energy and help with interaction with others. The Thymus helps us to feel true soul connection with spirit leaving an inner peace and glow from the Thymus during and after connection with spirit.

-6- Throat Chakra – With the colour of Blue.
This Chakra is our will centre and expression tool. Located in the center of the throat, seen as a sky blue, or deep blue, the throat is the gateway for spirit voice. To open the throat Chakra is to speak the truth and to let spirit impress their words on us as guidance or recognition of spirit. To be honest and speak ones truths at all times with confidence will keep the throat from feeling choked by nerves or being caught in situations where we are lost for words. Opening the throat Chakra also opens the path for spirit to impress thoughts into words.

-7- Ear Chakras – With the colour of Aqua.
The ear Chakras are located just above the ear and appear as disks angled roughly 30 degrees on an upward angle. The energy flows in an upward and outward movement on the clearest aqua colour. The ears are the gateway to clairaudience, this is where spirit can give messages as words or sounds, say an organ playing or a whistle blowing, perhaps the sound of a bird. When the ear Chakras are open this enables us to hear spirit and let spirit impress us with sounds and speech.

-8- Brow Chakra - Third eye - With the colour of Indigo.
Often referred to as the third eye, the brow chakra is located between the eyebrows and about a half inch or so above the nose bridge. When opening the third eye give the muscles in your eyes time to get used to being relaxed and open to spirit. Often spirit will communicate with us via the third eye and provide visions and images for us to work with. Sometimes seen as a window or landscape opening up like a movie screen or plain to spirit, the third eye can provide insight and clear connection with spirit giving you valid expressions or messages from spirit.

-9- Crown Chakra - With the colour of Violet and White center.Located at the top of the head, this Chakra is the main connector to spiritual awareness. The energy from around us is drawn in through the top of the head and flows down through the crown Chakra, down through all the main Chakras and powers all the centres. To visualize the crown Chakra flowing through the centers as a violet or white light powers all the centres. Remember the light or energy around us is taken from the universe and we are only tools for the energy to flow through.

-10- Hand Chakras - With the colour of Magenta.
The easiest Chakras to open and work with are the hands, located in the centre of the palms this Chakra can work to feel the slightest vibration change within some ones aura. Developing or fine tuning your hand Chakras enables you to scan an aura and balance an aura. The healing properties of the hands are well known and fine tuning the Chakras will enable you to ‘switch on’ the healing. When opening the hand Chakras you can include rubbing the palms together to encourage energy flow.
